Deanston Cooper’s client is a digital agency which helps some of UK’s best-loved brands to plan, create and improve their digital content. The company offers Social Media, Graphics & Branding, Web Design & E Commerce Solutions to clients in an increasingly diverse range of industry. In order to facilitate further planned growth they are now looking to expand their Glasgow based web development team with the recruitment of an additional Web Developer.
They are looking for a dynamic Web developer with strong HTML5/CSS3 and development skills to work in their fast paced environment. The successful candidate will be working on building websites for a range of national brands, SMEs and start-ups. At a minimum, you should be well versed in building Wordpress websites in addition to an existing or burgeoning experience building websites in alternative platforms/languages.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with a design team to build professional responsive WordPress sites
- Translate clients requirements into functional WordPress websites
- Customise WordPress themes by creating child themes and Custom Pages
- Installation and customisation of WordPress plugins
- Collaborate with other developers and our design team on projects
- Review and recommend improved designs for existing projects
- Provide support for on-going maintenance of existing and new websites
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Computer Science (or related discipline) or relevant experience
- Commercial experience working with WordPress including premium themes, plugins
- Knowledge of WordPress development and customising (creation of child themes, Custom Pages)
- Knowledge of built-in WordPress functions
- Good skills in PHP and SQL coding is essential
- Good knowledge of MySQL database or other open-source relational databases is beneficial
- Up-to-date knowledge of WordPress best practices
- Up-to-date knowledge of SEO best practises and tactics - ensuring that all web builds are SEO friendly/optimised,
- Good experience with Bootstrap CSS, HTML5, Javascript, JQuery, Ajax
- Knowledge of server management / setup
- Knowledge of Linux and Apache is beneficial but not essential
- Creative eye for responsive UX/UI design
- Understanding of cross-browser/cross-platform development and responsive web development
- Preferable knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop)
- Knowledge of PHP frameworks is beneficial
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work collaboratively and to a tight deadline
- Enthusiastic, reliable, and flexible
